Volunteer or Crew for Challenge Walk MS
Click here for weekend directions (PDF) Download the 2009 crew and volunteer manual (PDF) We can’t do this without you. Sign up to volunteer today!
The success of the Challenge Walk is directly related to the wonderful volunteers who help make the event go off without a hitch. We welcome volunteers with a wide range of talents and skills. There is only one requirement: to want to do something about MS NOW. There are many jobs to choose from including registration and cheering at the finish line!
Volunteers can now fundraise too! As a Challenge Walk volunteer, you will have access to all the same fundraising tools that are available to the walkers.

CREW
What’s a crew member? A group of dedicated individuals that travels with us for two days supporting the MS Challenge Walk.
Please note: Crew members must pay the registration fee to participate. The fee to register is $35 until January 31st, $55 until March 31st and then the registration fee will go up to it’s normal fee of $75 starting on April 1st. This helps to underwrite housing and meal costs and to ensure that Challenge Walk donations go directly to our mission.
Crew members are not required to raise the minimum contribution. However, crew members are highly encouraged to raise at least $200. Those that raise the $1,500 are called "Super Crew " and will receive a 2009 Commemerative sweatshirt the weekend of the walk and special “Super Crew” credentials.
What will I do as a crew member?
This will vary on your interests and your skills. Once you fill in the registration form, we will set up a time to speak with you over the phone to find the best fit. We need Crew members to set up and support the route at rest stops and at the hotel. Crew are also needed to supervise luggage, distribute food, cheer on the walkers and so much more. There are also opportunities for volunteers with specialized skills such as: EMT's, nurses, truck drivers and massage therapists. We will find the best place for you.
What is a crew chief?
A crew chief is a crew member who assumes a leadership role over a designated area of the event. The crew chief will work along side the staff to direct and organize the crew assigned to their location. If you are interested in becoming a crew chief, please contact Kathie Cronk.
Will I be trained?
You will receive a Crew Information Manual with detailed job descriptions for each Crew position.
How many Crew Members will there be?
There is limited space for Crew Members. We will need 60 crew members for 2009. Crew members are taken on a first come, first serve basis. If you have questions about registering as a crew member, please contact Kathie Cronk at Kathie.cronk@pae.nmss.org or 215-271-1500.
